Never Too Late to Start Your Business

People say “it’s not too late to start your own business”

I’ve often heard people say or even read articles “it’s not too late to start your own business”.

Age doesn’t matter if you want to start your own business these days, in fact, the fastest growing entrepreneur age group is the ‘middle aged’ demographic. That’s right and this is great news for people out there who don’t believe in themselves, as once I was.

A lot of people want to start their own business, but feel that it’s too late or don’t know how to start. For those, this is especially tough because many have spent most of their lives juggling many responsibilities that involve taking care of others as an employer or employee also, parent etc. I think not anymore when it comes to online business where you can work from home or anywhere you want, even in your spare time.

That’s how I and my other half started our own business online. Maybe you’ve read one of Rex’s blogs telling you a lot of that. When I started this with my partner, I thought this was impossible for me and how my brain works. I studied civil engineering and this is totally new for me, especially when people talk about entrepreneurship or online business. Am I wrong in starting my own business, should I have started this?

But what did change my mind?

1. Believe in it and learned to learn from failure.

Simple, believe in your business or what you’re doing. Believe that nothing will hold you back, even age. Fear of failure is one of the things that hold many people back from starting their own business. This happens a lot as you get older, you realize that you cannot avoid failure – we make mistakes! Instead, if you want to be successful, you learn to live with failure, to understand the lessons it teaches you, and to be that much better the next time. For most people, this is something that can be only learned with age. Most successful entrepreneurs and business owners will tell you that failure and the lessons learned have been the major factor in preparing for their present success.

2. More focused

When you have a business partner, older than you, you’ll be in the situation where you’re more focused than ever before when you work. When you’re younger the world is so wide open that it can sometimes be hard to know exactly what you want and to focus on going after it. This is not a bad thing, as many younger people, like me, have extreme amounts of energy and passion for multiple things and projects until they find something that sticks, but sometimes it happens with middle age as well, even older. But there is a distinct advantage to coming into your own, to knowing what you want and what you have to do to get it.

3. It’s never too late

Why? Because, If you truly want to start a business, I say go for it! Today, age is no prerequisite for success – in one way or the other! Now, I believe when it comes to an online business and the opportunity that people are on the internet everyday, you just need the right business system and coaching – that’s how The Six Figure Mentors came to us.

It doesn’t matter how old you are or at what age you decided to bring an idea to life. The key is not getting right to the end of life and being regretful. Do it NOW & have no regrets.

Someone said “success comes with experience and belief, not age”

Last month, few college graduates have seen what Doreetha Daniels has seen.

At 99 years old, Doreetha Daniels has lived through a number of watershed moments in American history, including the Great Depression, World War II, the Civil Rights movement, the moon landing and the rise of the Digital Age….and also just graduated from College of the Canyons (COC) in Santa Clarita, Calif., with an associate degree in social sciences (News an hour ago). Daniels said she wanted to finish her education to better herself. But her journey, which started in spring 2009, has been wrought with personal difficulties — from multiple strokes to sight and hearing issues to the revocation of her driver’s license.

What a woman!!!!

I googled for more answer…

So then I googled ‘aged graduate’ to learn more and found many more inspiring stories….

And the thought struck home despite the ups & downs of our world, despite the doom and gloom of politics etc., there is much in our world to be inspired about…or if you like…there is much in our world about which to be inspired.

We’ve just got to know a neighbor from the other end of our street, (100 meters away – it’s a short street) she’s possibly late 70’s, lives alone in a small terrace and we called upon her (by invitation) as she had an issue with her Mac laptop. Henry being the ace IT man that he is, resolved the issue to her delight. But back to L as she will be named. Lives in a small 2 up 2 down terrace, jammed pack full of her life’s collection, and I mean jammed full. It’s in a state of total chaos (to the observer) because L is building her own bookshelves….she’s building her own book shelves (& they’re looking great)….Inspirational. As well as that, compiling her life’s work in Typography into a publication…some 1,000+ page designs, motifs, trade marks, corporate logos etc. also Inspirational.
